Levitation Chairs 1 + 2, 2011
Forty years ago Bruce Nauman failed to levitate from this same type of folding chair. I have made multiple subsequent attempts. Here I am suggesting the viewer imagine a body in the seat, hand on cane—he would appear to be floating above the floor though his method for levitation is exposed. Certain impostor yogi guru's have been caught sitting in similar chairs, claiming levitation. Still a failure?

This levitation chair relies on reflection and illusion. If the world around is being reflected on its surface, than the object itself has a chance to disappear. Its multiple layers of doubling—double chair legs, double chair in the floor—create a confused state leaving the putty chair floating above it all.
